TRACK 10

a librarian’s journey beyond the algorithm

From TRACK 10

Joining a profession built on providing equitable access to information and culture was an opportunity to explore these feelings. I wasn’t loving the algorithm’s answer to the question “What’s next?”. How, I wondered, might a librarian answer it differently?

TRACK 10: a librarian’s journey beyond the algorithm is a zine and is best experienced printed, folded, and stapled together, though you can also read it online. An accessible ebook version.

You can also listen to the TRACK 10 Playlist and find sources and further reading in the Zotero library.

The zine is meant to be read in print format. Print this zine by downloading the print pdf. Select double-sided printing and ensure “flip on long edge” is selected. Collate if printing more than one copy.

Assembly Instructions

Keep sheets stacked in the order they printed.

  1. The front cover (F) will be on the top right corner.
  2. Cut the entire pile in half horizontally.
  3. Stack the top pile on top of the bottom. The front & back covers should be on top.
  4. Fold the whole stack in half left-to-right and staple the spine

Stapling tip: if the stapler arm is too short to reach the spine, open the stapler into a straight line. Staple the spine with a thick eraser underneath, then remove the eraser and fold down the two metal branches manually.
